U.S. Secret Service Field Offices Available to Help Victims of Cryptocurrency Loss

Updated: Jan 19

As cryptocurrency scams and cyber-enabled financial crimes continue to rise, many victims are unsure where to turn for help. One important but often overlooked resource is the United States Secret Service, which investigates a wide range of financial crimes, including those involving digital assets.

U.S. citizens who have experienced a cryptocurrency loss, whether through investment fraud, romance scams, impersonation schemes, or other crypto-related scams, are encouraged to contact their nearest U.S. Secret Service field office directly. These offices are accessible to the public and can provide guidance on how to submit information for review and potential investigation.

To make this process easier, we have created a downloadable PDF that contains a comprehensive list of all U.S. Secret Service field offices along with their phone numbers, allowing victims to quickly identify and contact the office closest to them.

Reporting Your Crypto Loss to U.S. Secret Service Field Offices

When contacting a field office to report a cryptocurrency loss or cyber-enabled financial crime, consider the following steps:

First, call your nearest U.S. Secret Service field office using the contact information provided in the downloadable list. Speaking directly with a field office is often the most effective way to initiate a report and understand next steps.

Victims may also report crypto fraud by emailing CryptoFraud@SecretService.gov with available case details. Additionally, victims can call 1-888-813-USSS for assistance.

When reaching out, it is important to include as much supporting evidence as possible, such as transaction hashes (TXIDs), wallet addresses, exchange statements, dates and times of transactions, screenshots, emails, messages, contracts, or other communications connected to the loss. The more complete the information, the easier it is for authorities to assess the activity.

Depending on your situation, you may also consider filing reports with other agencies, such as the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which collect reports related to online fraud and financial scams.

A Resource for Victims Navigating Crypto Fraud

Reporting a cryptocurrency loss can feel overwhelming, especially when victims are already dealing with financial and emotional stress. Knowing that the U.S. Secret Service maintains field offices across the country, and that these offices are available to receive reports from the public, can be an important first step toward accountability and potential recovery efforts.

If you need help organizing your evidence, understanding transaction activity, or preparing documentation before contacting law enforcement, Go-Crypto offers educational resources and professional support to help victims navigate the aftermath of crypto fraud with clarity and confidence.
